Centric with Christopher Martin
Christopher plays with the beautiful European technique of Verre Églomisé which dates back to the 14th century, but with a modern twist. This complex process involves painting in reverse on acrylic panels to gradually build up and produce the final image. This involves coaxing layer upon layer of sheer pigment and water to achieve his vision — harnessing brushes, wind, heat, and gravity, to create his abstract works. “Every layer of paint has a high influence on the one behind it as opposed to a flat covering stroke. It’s often around thirty layers of paint that fuse together.” – CM
